GUITARS FOR VETS TO LAUNCH NASHVILLE CHAPTER
WITH HELP FROM GIBSON BRANDS, RYMAN AUDITORIUM
AND LYNYRD SKYNYRD

Guitar auctions raise funds online and during Veterans Day concert
(October 21, 2013) NASHVILLE, TN – Ryman Auditorium and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members Lynyrd Skynyrd, will pay homage to vets with a Veterans Day celebration and fundraiser on November 11, 2013. Partnering with Gibson Brands and 105.9 The Rock, proceeds from a special auction will benefit Guitars for Vets (G4V).
Prior to the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert on Nov. 11, the Ryman will host a preshow plaza party starting at 5:00 p.m. Attendees will enjoy live music while they check out guitars which are to be auctioned online and as part of a silent auction at the concert. Puckett's "Trolley Parton" will be on site and any concert-goers riding motorcycles will be allowed to park on the Ryman drive as space allows.

Lynyrd Skynyrd has long history of paying tribute to military veterans. The band has made donations to Wounded Warriors through the Lynyrd Skynyrd Foundation in the past. The band also dedicates their classic hit "Simple Man" to servicemen and women, past and present, at nearly every show.

"We're thrilled to have the opportunity to support the launch of this very cool charity in Nashville," said band member Johnny Van Zant. "Anyone who plays music knows the therapeutic benefit of spending time with an instrument on a regular basis. I have no doubt Guitars for Vets will have a positive impact for veterans in Music City. "

"As an American guitar maker with its headquarters in Nashville, we're honored to support Guitars for Vets in its mission here and throughout the nation," said Gibson Brands CEO and Chairman, Henry Juszkiewicz. "We've had a long relationship with Guitars for Vets through the Gibson Foundation as well as with Lynyrd Skynyrd. We couldn't be more excited that the band will be helping us kick off the Nashville chapter of a charity devoted to healing heroes through music."

"This is an incredible way for Guitars for Vets to join the community in Music City," said Outdoor Music recording artist and G4V ambassador Markus Fox. Fox is a former active duty combat Marine and is also a guitarist and singer-songwriter. "To participate in this event on Veteran's Day supported by rock and roll icons Lynyrd Skynyrd is amazing. It's something I'll never forget." Fox will perform on the Ryman plaza from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., just before doors open for the concert that evening.

Happy Fall Y'all

Fall - 2013

Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower.

Outside my window

Fall...my favorite time of year. Warm days, cool nights.
Sipping on hot apple cider around a crackling fire.

Remember the childhood days of  jumping in that
big pile of leaves that it took your parents a while to rake?

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Remembering The Plane Crash 36 Years later

I can recall this night as if it had just happened. A friend and I were riding around listening to the radio, when the announcer broke in and said that a plane
carrying members of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band had crashed in Gillsburg, MS. In disbelief, we
turned to each other not saying a word. As time passed, we heard of the horrific stories of the injuries,
and loss of life.

They played in Nashville, Tn., the summer of '76. So glad I got to see the original band members.
To this day, I am a huge fan of this band and have been to almost all of their Nashville concerts, although only one original band member ( Gary Rossington) is left.

There was only one person who could sing this song, Ronnie Van  Zant.

A lonely microphone stands alone, but we could hear you singing it on
your journey home.

 Love, Laughter, Joy, and Togetherness

were together was all that mattered.

"Someone"

It  was on a  Friday night, late September, twenty-two years ago. The phone rang. It was
Vanderbilt  Hospital. "The Call" we had been hoping and praying for. A member of the Transplant Team saying, "we have a kidney, a perfect match,  you  have a certain time
period  in which you must arrive." In complete shock, but with an abundance amount of
joy, our prayers had been answered.  My best friend was getting the "Gift of Life."

Although, a joyous occasion for our family, lest we not forget, it was a tragic, and trying time
for the family who had just lost a loved one. Passing on the "The Gift of Life" that others
might live. How do you thank someone who is grieving, and still in a state where realization
hasn't even began?

All  pre-surgical testing is complete. The surgery is a go.
The moment the kidney was transplanted, it started working
immediately. My best friend was blessed beyond measure to continue a life without dialysis, with
hopes of a better quality of life. The result....that special "Someone" was part of his life for
Twenty Years!

My best friend, well, that was my husband, the love of my life!
As I'm writing this, with a heavy heart, my husband passed
from this life almost two years ago.

Cold Mountain

This  is  one  of  my  favorite  movies.  I  have  watched  it  twice  this  week.  The  characters,  music,  and  events  sum  up  to  ones "'Ain  True  Love".   "'Ain"  is  an  old  Scottish  word
meaning  "own".

Cold Mountain is a sweeping tale set in the final days of the American Civil War. Jude Law stars as Inman, a young soldier who, despite an injury, is struggling to make his way home to Cold Mountain, NC, where his beloved Ada (Nicole Kidman) awaits. In Inman's absence, Ada befriends Ruby (RenĂ©e Zellweger), who helps her keep up her late father's farm.

Love it when

Ruby arrives.....
