Butterfly Blessings

Tiger Swallowtail - August 2013

I came across one of God’s small creatures today. Even though small in size, its beauty, grace and peacefulness it brought me was well above measure.

 

The Tiger Swallowtail butterfly (Papilio glaucas) is a strong flier with distinctive yellow and black striped markings on its wings and body (some females are brown or black, mimicking the poisonous pipevine swallowtail). This relatively common butterfly has a wingspan of 3.5-6.5 inches (9-16.5 cm). Southern subspecies are larger than the northern ones. These butterflies are called swallowtails because they have long "tails" on their hindwings which look a bit like the long, pointed tails of swallows (a type of bird).



It is always a good day to be grateful for all of life -

This sweet kitty needed a home.  I’ve had her for a year and a half now.  Not sure how old she is,  just know she was quiet young when I got her.

Pampering Petunias

 

Well, it's too HOT here in the south for me to be doing any flower gardening, so I'll just go with

the hanging pots on my front porch. I know petunias love HOT weather, along with plenty of water.

 

When I purchased these back in May, they were less than half this size. Sunshine, fertilizer, and as

I said, plenty of water and they are very easy to grow. A very low maintenance flower.

 

I was reading an article about these wave petunias and I didn't know that you don't have to pinch them back as the regular ones. Although, I have been doing it all summer and sure I will continue.

 

 

 

Up to 3 feet so far.... :)

Happy July 4th to y'all!  It's been almost a nonstop rain here since last night. Over three inches
and may get up to six over the next three days, so they say. Definitely, a real frog strangler. But, all is good, God has blessed us with another day! :) 

                                                                                  

God bless to all which are serving our country and to those who have served. A simple thank you just doesn't seem to be
enough. I'll say a prayer for you and your families both past and present. May God shine upon you
